What a terrific book! My students really enjoyed reading Bridge to Terabithia earlier this year. Below you will find a couple anchor charts I created for my unit study along with a few sample constructive response questions. I hope you enjoy these samples. At the bottom of this page, you can follow the link to find the full unit on Teachers Pay Teachers.

You may wish to have students complete the anchor chart by writing the details on sticky notes. This way the anchor chart may be used year after year.

This is a free sample constructive response organizer. Just click on the image to download the pdf version of this organizer.

The anchor chart above pairs with the constructive response graphic organizer below. In my classroom, students were placed in small groups to brainstorm the most important events in Leslie and Jess's friendship through Chapter 9. A discussion followed between the groups until the best 10 details were determined. Students then completed the organizer and wrote a summary similar to the example directly below. I completed the anchor chart above as students completed their organizers.

Ways to Use the Graphic Organizer

Option 1

Have students use the graphic organizer for notes. Notice the notes in the photo above are not in complete sentences. Glue the organizer to the left side of the notebook page. On the right side of the notebook, students use the notes to write the details in paragraph form.

Option 2

Students complete the organizer by writing complete sentences.
